bodies of water
An interactive work held over a four day period in which the public was invited to engage in collective weaving. Participants created weavings on cardboard box looms that had been coated with beeswax, filled with water and weighted with large rocks. After each weaving was completed, participants were asked to coat their pieces with melted beeswax, cut them from the box looms upon drying, and tie them to a net that hung above the workspace. After four days, the net was heavy with weavings. The cardboard boxes and blanket upon which participants worked was covered in wax strokes and drippings, leaving a record of their actions.
Bodies of water was presented as part of Duality, the culminating exhibition of a 9-month residency at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, NY (2016).
